Background

Leviatan Design is a Romanian based company that provides a comprehensive range of construction services since 2012: from the design to the management, implementation and delivery of highly complex building projects either for the healthcare, education, civil engineering, industrial, commercial, agricultural or residential industries.

In 2021, after conducting a thorough analysis of their workflows, Leviatan Design decided to digitalize all phases of their working processes in order to build sustainable structures, enhance their employees’ collaboration and the quality of their work and activities.

 Solutions

Working alongside Synergiz, Leviatan Design started adopting mixed reality solutions by using HoloLens and Synergiz HoloKase, the all-in-one mixed reality kit, with customized training sessions and technical support adapted to their building projects.

They rapidly saw an interest in combining and implementing the NEXT-BIM software solution, recommended by Synergiz, to the intuitive use of HoloLens. Wearing the MR headset, fully immersed in the BIM models (Building Information Modelling standard), the 3D models come to life and offer a whole new vision and level of information to the teams and clients involved in the process. The ability to overlap the 3D models on a real environment truly simplifies the understanding of all phases of a project from all representatives involved.

Additionally, the use of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Remote Assist enables them to simultaneously share real-time view of the project and bring critical information into light without having all participants on location, avoiding unnecessary travels while maintaining and smoothing the workflow.

“The use of Mixed Reality solution has primarily changed the way we communicate between people onsite and people in the office. The problems are verified, identified, and notified very fast on the field and sent to the office.” Maria Văsi, Lead of Infrastructure Office, Leviatan Design.

Results

Using mixed reality solutions has primarly changed the way Leviatan Design teams communicate amongst one another. Problems can be identified and notified by the operational teams onsite through the HoloLens and directly brought up to / and resolved by the office teams. All parties involved have direct access to the architectural, structural and design information of the project in an immersive way. Instead of using tablettes, plans, and 2D models, this dynamic process reduces up to 50% of their time in coordination.
