The project:
Better detecting and understanding complex heart diseases
The solution:
Visualizing patients’ hearts in 3D via HoloLens 2 and Synergiz Harbor to detect complex heart conditions and make more informed decisions regarding the possibility of surgery.
Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque:
Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque is an association that enables children suffering from extremely complex and rare heart conditions to undergo surgery in France or Switzerland when they cannot do so in their own country due to a lack of technical or financial resources.
Synergiz Harbor:
In the first step, Visible Patient (a medical image analysis laboratory) creates a 3D model of the heart from a CT scan or MRI. Subsequently, medical teams can visualize and manipulate the organ in three dimensions using the Microsoft HoloLens 2 headset and the Synergiz Harbor Mixed Reality software solution to detect the type of heart condition and the complexity of the child’s cardiac problem.
Benefits:
The 3D modeling of children’s hearts is particularly valuable for severe conditions such as Double Outlet Right Ventricle (DORV), as it provides, with a simple examination like a cardiac CT scan, now feasible in almost all countries, the same information as an angiography, a much more delicate and “invasive” examination that is especially not feasible in the countries where the children come from. Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque thus enables a better understanding of complex heart diseases.
